Silas Young vs. KUSHIDA (ROH/NJPW War of the Worlds Dearborn- May 15, 2017)

young vs. kushida.jpg

Young has been feuding with Jay Lethal lately while KUSHIDA has a big match with Lethal at the forthcoming PPV.  Both guys are so natural at their roles that it’s nice to see a battle like this because the dynamics are so clear. Young works KUSHIDA’s back and is one who slows things down. KUSHIDA does a tremendous job with his facials and body to get the fans involved. Hoverboard Lock is eventually applied. Finlay roll into the Pee Gee Waja Plunge only gets two. Misery hits. Young covers and gets the win!

Things certainly picked up in the second half, just like the first match. This was a very solid match and a huge victory for Silas Young. This makes the Bully Ray loss look all the dumber because you’ve got a guy who’s beaten first Jay Lethal and now KUSHIDA. Obviously, he’s going to be a player in the upper midcard from this point forward, and I’m very happy about this. Even if KUSHIDA is a junior, this was an important win for Young.

Winner (s)/Rating: Silas Young/***1/4
