Starr is a prominent part of the European scene to the point where I think the company should just adopt him at this point. However, he can’t even hold a candle to Zack Sabre Jr., a man with three major independent wrestling championships and now a prominent part of New Japan.
Some tremendous mat wrestling and roll-ups out of both men. Starr ends the niceities with a huge chop on Sabre. Starr insults Sabre by putting his dick in Sabre’s face. Sabre goes nuts with kicks and strikes before focusing on the arm. Starr has a violence party in the corner. Pair of Penalty kicks gets two. Sabre armrakes both arms. Starr turns a triangle choke into a Project Ciampa. That was awesome. European Clutch only gets two. Flurry of offense ending with a neckbreaker across the knee. Sabre kicks out. More tremendous exchanges. Starr locks in Product Placement. Sabre grabs his version of the Rings of Saturn and gets the victory. Both men look exhausted.
Given Sabre was wearing Labour Red and the type of people who attend PROGRESS shows would be supportive of a more liberal, he was the clear party. Havoc and Bank had a pretty intense and physical match, but they seemed to be having a more friendly competition. Sabre seemed to wrestle like he was annoyed with Starr’s cockiness. In a tournament full of really good matches, this was actually the best. Excellent work from both men. This somehow topped their CZW match in a big way.
Winner (s)/Rating: Zack Sabre Jr./****
