Michael Elgin vs. Shane Strickland (PWG Head Like a Cole- May 19, 2017)
Strickland had a tremendous debut while Elgin has been tearing it up in AAW and PWG this year. This is a first time match and a huge showcase opportunity for Strickland. Headscissors by Strickland and Elgin responds with a shoulder tackle. Clearly, we’re setting up for a traditional power versus speed type contest. Strickland springboards into the ring and is powerbombed for his trouble. Elgin seemed like he was in a foul mood, and it manifested in a really intense series of offensive moves. Strickland was perfect at taking bumps and being a punishment doll. Elgin served as an excellent base for Strickland’s dives. Strickland has done a great job in PWG of balancing the need for movez versus trying to actually have good matches. He’s resisted silliness and is someone who should continue to be brought back and possibly even pushed. Elgin DOES THE DEAL but Strickland kicks out. Elgin wins pretty definitively with the bucklebomb and Elginbomb. Short, sweet, and served its purpose.
