This is a first time match and one that is interesting for a number of different reasons. Williams goes to work on the notoriously gimpy leg of Kingston. Kingston is able to fight him off. Williams uses his speed advantage and transitions to working the arm. Lots of hard chops by both men are mixed in with the arm work. STO by Kingston. After wearing him down a bit inside the ring, the chop exchanges head outside. Combination of strikes back inside the ring. Angle Slam by Williams gets two. Double arm DDT on the apron. Suplex on the floor. Kingston hits a Backfist to the Future out of nowhere for two. Huge flurry ends with a Kingston Backfist and a spinning lariat from Williams. Series of uranagis by Kingston. Lariat for two. Kingston places Williams on the top rope but he has trouble with his arms. Top rope DDT. Piledriver. Crossface locked in and Kingston taps immediately.
Interesting that Williams worked over Kingston’s leg, arm, and neck. This was a showcase of his viciousness. This was the most physical and easily the best of matches I’ve watched from the first round of this tournament. This lived up to expectations and was a tremendous showing by both men. Williams really stepped up and showed the kind of intensity I’d love to also see out of him in Evolve.
